A former high school and collegiate wrestler, he debuted from Kensuke Office before joining Pro Wrestling NOAH in 2014. In 2016, he changed his name from Mitsuyoshi Kitamiya to Masa Kitamiya, in honor of the legendary Masa Saito. He has had great success in the tag team division, winning the GHC Tag Team Championship with both Kenoh and Katsuhiko Nakajima, with whom he had a notable and long-running rivalry. As a cornerstone of the company, he is often called “NOAH’s Gatekeeper,” as younger wrestlers must overcome him to advance. He won the GHC Tag Title again in 2023 with Daiki Inaba. He is a consistent challenger for the top singles titles, having challenged for both the GHC National and GHC Heavyweight Championships. In 2025, he challenged for the GHC Heavyweight Championship for the eighth time, showcasing his relentless pursuit of a singles title victory. Currently, he holds key leadership positions in NOAH as the Chairman of the Wrestlers’ Association and Head of Scouting, while continuing to compete at the highest level.
