He debuted at the Nippon Budokan event in August 2012 as an active high school student. After graduating, he enrolled at Nippon Sport Science University, balancing his studies and professional wrestling, and successfully graduated in March 2018. The theme of his graduation thesis was "German Suplex." He set a record for the most successful defenses of the KO-D Openweight Championship with 11, a streak that ended in a loss to Shigehiro Irie in April 2018. He began competing in AEW in the United States in April 2021. On November 20, 2022, it was announced he was a contracted wrestler for both DDT and AEW. Since then, he has shown remarkable success, defeating top wrestlers like Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho in singles matches. In August 2024, he also made his debut in New Japan Pro-Wrestling's G1 Climax 34. In October 2024, he won his first title in AEW, the AEW International Championship. On January 4, 2025, at New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Tokyo Dome event, he won the NEVER Openweight Championship for the first time, and it was announced that he was officially a contracted wrestler for three promotions: DDT, AEW, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
